Emma Wood State Beach

Ventura, CA.

Emma Wood State Beach is a no frills place to camp just north of Ventura, CA. There are 90 spots situated between the small road and the beach. This campground is similar to Rincon in terms of no water, services, restrooms, or any convienences whatsoever. The only real difference is the road at Rincon IS the highway, here it is only the private campground driveway. Also Rincon has chemical toilets and dumpsters, here there are only two of each. There IS a lifeguard tower here as well as a very nice beach most of the day. When the tide is high, it comes in right to your site, and into some sites. But when it goes low tide, it was about 200 feet from my site.

90 spots total. 84 to 90 parallel, large and dry. 71 to 83 angled and wet. 61 to 70, parallel with seawall, higher numbers, good width. 24 to 60, angled, higher numbers get smaller, lower numbers are wider. THE GOLDEN SPOT, spot 23 is all alone, big, dry, basically perfect. 20 and 21, parallel but very small seawall area. 18 and 19 are parallel, no seawall. 1 to 17 are angeled, no seawall.
